Topics of Human-Computer Interaction WiSe 2023/24

  • Every two weeks on Wednesday, 11:00 - 13:00

Discover current developments and emerging directions in Human-Computer Interaction. This seminar introduces students to a broad range of contemporary topics in the field and helps them develop foundational research and presentation skills.

Students will explore areas such as
  • Human–AI Interaction
  • Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality
  • Adaptive Systems
  • Physiological Interaction
  • Conversational User Interfaces
  • Digital Fabrication

Throughout the seminar, participants will write a seminar paper, review the work of peers, and present their own results. The course also introduces the fundamentals of academic writing and provides guidance in presenting scientific findings effectively.

Seminar structure
  • independent study of selected HCI topics
  • literature review and discussion of current research
  • writing and submission of a seminar paper
  • peer review of another student’s paper
  • presentation and discussion of results

After completing the module, students can:

  • identify and describe key contemporary topics in Human-Computer Interaction
  • conduct independent research and literature analysis in selected areas of HCI
  • write a structured academic paper on an HCI topic
  • review and critically evaluate other students’ work
  • present research results clearly and confidently to an academic audience
  • apply principles of academic writing and scientific communication
